    • Most gyms begin offering gymnastics classes for children 18 months and older.
    • If you are starting your child in gymnastics as a toddler, we recommend looking for a class that has equipment specifically designed with younger children in mind.
    • Eight to twelve week sessions are typical, but most gymnastics providers will accept registration at any time during the year.
    • Children advance to different levels based on skill attainment rather than age.
    • Many gyms offer Open Gym sessions where your child can explore and play outside a structured class.  Attending an Open Gym can be a great way try out a gymnastics gym before committing to a full session.
    • In addition to registration fees, there may be an annual admin fee and expense to purchase gymnastics leotards.  Competitive gymnasts also incur fees related to competitions and team management.
