Keeping Kids Active: Shoveling

A fresh snow fall is a great excuse to get outside and play.  Turn shoveling duty into active time for your kids.  True, they may push the snow around more than they clear it, but they are likely to have fun doing it.  Consider buying a smaller sized shovel if your child is young.  I’ve had luck finding them at my local dollar store and Toys R Us. And don’t be afraid to use creative ways to clear the snow.  Create patterns in the snow or have races.  Give the kids spray bottles of colored water and let them create their own masterpiece using the snow as their canvas. Don’t forget making snow angels!  Share your shoveling stories.  Or, tell us how you keep your kids active in the winter.  Just post a comment below.
