Epic Birthday Party Ideas for Boys

Even if your little guy is getting too old (or too cool) to have a birthday party, he’s sure to think any of the following birthday party options are an “epic” way to celebrate his special day.

    Mobile Video Game Parties
These on-location mobile party trucks bring a gaming experience to your door step. They are usually filled with a theater-like gaming space and a selection of the hottest video game systems and games. Game Truck has franchisees across the country.

    Indoor Trampoline Parks
Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline park has several U.S. franchisees, but there are also other regional and local indoor trampoline park businesses. Basically, these places have floors, walls and sometimes ceilings of trampolines laced together. Party packages usually include open jump and/or host-led sports (e.g. dodgeball). My family and I went to a party at Sky Zone and I’m pretty sure the dads had as much fun as the kids.

    Paintball Parks
Outdoor paintball parks offer birthday party packages that give boys the opportunity to play out their secret agent or super hero fantasies.  Players compete, in teams or individually, to eliminate opponents by tagging them with capsules containing paintballs (capsules of water soluble dye).  Protective gear and eyewear, which makes the experience even “cooler” for boys, is recommended to help prevent eye injuries and minor bruising that could result from being hit by a paintball.

    Laser Tag
Here’s another party option that allows your son to play the super hero, but with lasers there is no chance for bruising. Laser tag arenas are typically indoors, include a maze-like set-up and are illuminated with black lights. Similar to paintball, players are let loose in the arena for a designated amount of time and compete to tag each other with their laser beam. Participants wear vests that bear electronic targets.  If a player’s target is hit, they are out of the game, temporarily or permanently depending on the game rules.  Hits are usually computer-tabulated and the victors are announced at the end of game play.

Pack up the tent and some hot dogs and head to a nearby campground (or the backyard) and celebrate with some outdoor fun. Bring along fishing poles and worms and host a fishing contest if you’re fortunate enough to set-up camp near a lake. Don’t forget the firewood and s’mores stuff for the bonfire to cap off the night.

Take Them Out to the Ball Game
Obviously this one is limited to birthdays that fall within the season that typically runs late March through late September. If the timing’s right, you can get a group rate on tickets to professional baseball games. Or, some Major League Baseball franchises even offer formal party packages for kids.  Minor league games are another great way to take your party to the ball game for less.
