  • Description - Camp Bovey

Camp Bovey is a summer resident camp for boys and girls ages 8-14. Our mission is to provide a safe place for youth to have fun while participating in outdoor activities that help build respect for themselves, one another, and the environment. Since 1949, East Side Neighborhood Services has provided youth in our community the opportunity to attend Camp Bovey. Camp Bovey is located approximately 150 miles from Minneapolis in Northwestern Wisconsinメs Gordon Township near the origin of the St. Croix River. Two hundred acres of pine forest with sandy soil surrounding a spring fed lake will be your childメs home this summer. Our privately owned Lake Metzger provides the perfect setting for swimming, boating, canoeing, fishing and watching wildlife. Campers, together with their counselor, are housed in ムAメ Frame sleeping cabins. The cabins have electricity, single cots and storage shelves. Staff are housed upstairs in the loft and the children are below, on the main floor. There are three cabins for boys on one side of Camp, and three cabins for girls on the other side. Each cabin houses 8 campers. The Main Lodge, situated right on the lakeshore, is where we all gather three times a day for a delicious meal. Kitchen staff work hard all day to provide nutritious meals for the campers as well as the staff. Other common buildings include the shower house, Carol Jalma Craft Cabin, Flo Holewa Boathouse, a log cabin nature room and a games pavilion. The activities at Camp are traditional in nature. Swimming lessons, open swim, crafts, Outdoor Living Skills, camping and canoeing trips, hikes, picnics and ball games are included in our program. On the first night of camp and again on the last, all in Camp gather at the campfire ring for songs, stories, skits and to share experiences of camp with one another.
