  • Description - Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times

Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times creates a positive long-lasting impact on children with cancer and their families by providing fun-filled, medically supervised, cost-free, year-round camp programs. Family Camp is a weekend-long experience open to support families who have a child with cancer ages infant - 8 years old. Family Camp is an opportunity for your family to come together for a relaxing weekend. Parents and their children can play together without having to worry about making meals, doing the dishes or worrying if their child will have access to quality medical care. Parents connect with each other and receive support and build friendships with other families who understand what it means to raise children during treatments and procedures for cancer. Camp is designed to be fun and supportive for all members of the family, giving everyone a chance to laugh, learn and love together. Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times Winter Camp is a 4 day - 3 night experience that promotes self-esteem, friendships, and fun for our campers. We offer 2 sessions to choose from for our younger campers, ages 9 - 14. Something unique to each Winter Camp session is the theme the weekend's program is built around. Themes from past years have included: School of Rock, Super Heroes, Under the Sea and Film Festival. Activities vary based on the themes! As Winter Camp approaches, check back to see what we will be doing this year!! Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times offers a 7 day - 6 night Summer Camp experience that will create lifelong memories and friendships. We offer activities of a 'normal' camp, adapted to meet the special needs of our campers. Our programs are intentionally designed to promote campers' self-esteem, confidence, friendships and teamwork in an environment that is medically supervised and filled with support, understanding, fun and laughter. Developing these skills can help campers successfully meet the challenges of treatment, school, work and family. Activities include all of the traditional elements of a camp; Swimming, horseback riding, hiking, backpacking and other sports can be adapted, as needed, to ensure each person is able to participate, regardless of his or her level of ability or challenge. Campers can express their creativity through arts, crafts, pottery, music, dancing, performing arts and radio broadcasting. They are given the opportunity to challenge themselves and gain valuable communication skills at our Adventure Courage Course and 50-foot climbing tower. We also offer summer and winter camps for teens 16-18 years old.
