  • Description - Contra Costa Civic Theatre

Musical Minis (ages 5-6) is an introductory class designed for young students to learn about performance and theatre skills through games, story, movement and singing. There will be a performance in class on the final day of the session that will include a demonstration of the stories and activities as well as the rehearsed performance of a few favorite musical songs. Musical Kids (ages 7-10) is geared for young actors who are new to performing. The shows are selected to match the experience level of the performers and will have fun parts for all participants. Musical Juniors (ages 9-14) will undertake a longer, more challenging production with strong ensemble participation. Improvisation For Young Actors: In this series of classes, students will study the oft-forgotten art of making things up. With an eye towards producing a cohesive performance group, the class will use games, exercises, and a whole lot of general silliness to build a foundation of important improv skills. Topics will include narrative structure, status play, audience interaction, gibberish, mime, and more! No experience necessary.
