  • Description - VOICES: a music & arts studio

CHARACTER EXPLORATION (ages 9-12): It's been said that all of the most believable, and the most memorable, roles ever played had one common denominator - the actors fully developed their characters. In this class, students will explore and practice excellent character development, including getting to know their character - how they think, how they feel, and what motivates them to act the way they do. Don't miss this exciting new class! KIDS ACTING (ages 5-7, 6-8): In this class, students explore movement, vocalization, character development and ensemble building. Through games and exercises, students begin to develop the acting skills needed to create believable characters, in which they may participate in an end-of-year show for an invited audience. KIDS MUSICAL THEATRE (ages 5-7): A fun and educational program designed to help young ones explore their creativity through music, movement, and storytelling, while learning songs from their family-friendly Broadway shows! This class introduces students to the fundamentals of performance, all culminating in final presentations for family and friends at the Holiday and Spring Showcases! This class provides a great place for our littlest stars to learn to shine! MUSICAL THEATRE BASICS (ages 8-12): Students will find this comprehensive theatre training class inspiring, engaging and challenging. They will be given the necessary building blocks to grow as a performer while developing improved audition skills, body movement and overcoming stage fright. Topics will include make-up and character development, as well as voice, acting, and dance, all culminating in final performances for family and friends at the Holiday and Spring Showcases! PRE-TEEN ACTING (ages 9-12): Focus on what happens after you land that role... and how to create a performance that will be unforgettable. Students will learn how to properly warm-up their bodies and voices, and sharpen their focus. Theatrical games and exercises, scene work and discussion will give students the tools to make a role their own. TEEN ACTING (ages 13-18): Teens get a taste of professional acting training in this terrific class. Performers learn to use voice and body in performance through dynamic games and exercises. Discover character development through movement, improvisation, and analysis. Polish acting skills through monologues and scene study. The class will simulate a professional environment as students learn about auditioning, blocking, and working with a director.
